Main stages
1
Skilled team throughout
Quartz worktops are installed through a precise, multi-stage process: templating, fabrication and fitting. First the kitchen is templated to capture exact measurements, then the slab is cut and finished in the workshop to those measurements, and finally the finished worktop is delivered, positioned, levelled, joined and sealed in your kitchen. Each stage needs skill, which is why quartz installation is a professional job. To see the fitting day itself, read what happens on installation day and whether quartz can be cut on site.

The quartz installation process
Stage one: templating
Installation begins with templating, once your kitchen units are fitted. The templater captures the exact dimensions, angles and details of your kitchen, so the worktop is made to fit precisely. Accurate templating is the foundation of a good installation. Our guide on what happens on installation day covers the wider process.
Stage two: fabrication
The slab is then cut and finished in the workshop to the templated measurements. The cut-outs for sinks and hobs are made, the edge profile is shaped, and the surface is finished. This precision work is done in controlled workshop conditions. Our FAQ on whether quartz can be cut on site explains why fabrication happens in the workshop.
Stage three: fitting
The finished worktop is delivered to your kitchen, where the fitting team positions it, levels it, makes any joins between pieces, fits it around the sink and hob, and seals the edges and joins. Quartz is heavy, so this is a team job. Our FAQ on how heavy quartz worktops are covers why.
Why each stage needs skill
Every stage, from accurate templating through precise fabrication to careful fitting, depends on skill and experience. A weakness at any stage shows in the finished result, which is why the choice of supplier matters. Our guide on the questions to ask before buying covers this.
The in-house advantage
When one team handles templating, fabrication and fitting, the whole process is consistent and accountable. Precious Marble works this way, with its own in-house team from its Bedford base, rather than subcontracting. See the Quartz Worktops Bedford page to start.
