In practical terms, that means liquids cannot soak into the surface, so there is nothing for a sealant to protect.

What Porosity Means for a Worktop

How Neolith Achieves Near Zero Porosity
Neolith is made by pressing natural minerals at up to 400 bars, which squeezes out air and packs the particles tightly together. The slabs are then fired above 1,200°C, where feldspars partially melt and flow into the remaining gaps before cooling into a dense, glassy matrix. The result is an apparent density of around 2.4 g/cm³ and almost no open pores.

While the Neolith slab itself needs no sealing, the joins and silicone seals around sinks, splashbacks and upstands are separate materials. These should be kept clean and checked occasionally. Silicone may eventually need renewing, as it would with any worktop. This is normal household maintenance rather than a weakness of the material.
A careful fabricator will use suitable colour matched adhesives for joins and high quality sealant around sinks to keep water out of the cabinets below.
Common Questions About Sealing
Homeowners moving from granite or marble often ask whether they should still seal Neolith just to be safe. The answer is no. Sealing offers no benefit on a surface that absorbs almost nothing and can create cleaning problems of its own.
Another common question is whether matt or textured finishes are more porous than polished ones. The texture affects how the surface feels and how residue sits on it, not how much liquid the material absorbs. Neolith’s data sheet shows the same low absorption range across finishes, although the Ultrasoft finish is rated Class 4 rather than Class 5 for stain resistance, so prompt wiping is sensible on that finish.
