What Guarantees Should Come With Your Quartz Worktops?
Quartz Worktop Guarantees Explained
A guarantee is only as good as its written terms. Here is what a quartz worktop guarantee should cover, the two parts to look for, and what to check before you buy.
The short answer
Two parts, both in writing
A good guarantee has two parts.
A product guarantee from the brand and a workmanship guarantee from your supplier.

Parts to look for
1
Clear written set of terms
A quartz worktop guarantee usually has two parts: the product guarantee from the quartz brand, covering the material, and the workmanship guarantee from your supplier, covering the templating, fabrication and fitting. Both should be given to you in writing, with clear terms on what is covered, for how long, and any conditions. A material guarantee alone does not cover a fitting issue, and a workmanship guarantee alone does not cover a material defect, so you want both. To make sure the guarantee is set out properly, read what a quote should include.

What a quartz worktop guarantee should cover
The product guarantee
The product guarantee comes from the quartz manufacturer and covers the slab material itself against defects. Different quartz brands offer different terms, which is one more reason to choose a named, recognised brand rather than an unbranded slab. Our guides to what quartz is made of and the best quartz worktop brands in MK explain why the brand matters here.
The workmanship guarantee
The workmanship guarantee comes from your supplier and covers the quality of their work, including templating, cutting and fitting. This is separate from the material guarantee, and just as important. A supplier that templates, fabricates and fits with its own in-house team can stand behind the whole job. Our guide on how to choose an installer explains why in-house work makes a guarantee easier to honour.
Why you want both
The two guarantees cover different things. If a slab has a material defect, that is the product guarantee. If a join or a cut-out is not done well, that is the workmanship guarantee. Having only one leaves a gap. A complete picture means both, given to you clearly and in writing.
Getting the terms in writing
Guarantee lengths and scope vary, so the important thing is to have the exact terms in writing rather than relying on a general claim. Ask how long both the product and workmanship cover last, what each includes, and what conditions apply, such as following care guidance. A supplier that is clear and specific about its guarantee is one you can trust. Vague verbal assurances are a warning sign, which our guide to red flags when choosing a supplier covers.
Questions worth asking
Before you commit, ask your supplier to confirm the product guarantee, the workmanship guarantee, the length of each, and any care conditions. Our guides on the questions to ask a fabricator and how to verify a supplier give you a full checklist so nothing is left unclear.
